Then being put away for next year, or being shared with colleagues to ensure learning environments are regularly receiving fresh content to achieve their full effectiveness. This WellSaid set A includes the following;
Usefulness. Eugene P Wigner, 1960. "The enormous usefulness of mathematics in the natural sciences is something bordering on the mysterious". This is a good starting point for considering views over time about mathematics being created or discovered.
Octonians. "It's an Octonic world." A quote from Ian Stewart Page 273 in his book 'Why Beauty is Truth'. 2008. This Mathsoul Quotations mathematics poster shows the sentence: The poster also has brief summaries of complex numbers, arithmetic in multiple dimensions, and of octonian arithemetic being a candidate for 'The Theory of Everything' in physics. Chocolate. "Eat one, you'll want two more. Eat two, you'll crave another four. Eat four well you do the maths". Quotation from Adrian Fryin, New Statesman Feb 28 2005. A great poster to demonstrate by eating the requisite chololates as indicated, either yourself or sharing some with students. This will certainly capture full student attention. Especially helpul for visual and kinetic learners of mathematics. Interesting to explore in part because this does not fully define the future terms of the sequence. Is it the normal geometric sequence of 2 raised to one higher power each term, or is it a type of arithmetic sequence with term 1 = 1, and then term n = t(n1) +n?
Poetry Sophia. "It is impossible to be a mathematician without being a poet in soul." Also some biographical background on the famous Mathematician Sofia Kovalevskaya the well known acclaimed writer, poet, and first prominent Russian female mathematician, first woman in Europe to earn a doctorate in Mathematics, and first woman to be appointed to a full professorship in Europe (Sweden 1889). Sofia studied Saturn's rings (shown on poster) amongst many other subjects. Also includes contact details for the Association for Women in Mathematics.
Queen. "Mathematics is the queen of the sciences." Carl Friedrich Gauss. 1777 to 1855. Very good for getting attention and helping to market mathematics.
